Web Designing – Getting Inspired From the King and Queen of Chess

Web designing is like the game of chess. Most of the people who know this game consider it as a mind game full of strategies aimed at capturing the King of the opposite side. When playing this game the player needs to think on many aspects simultaneously. The player needs to think what actions are going to be taken by the opposite side as well as think about the reason for the opposite person taking the earlier step. The player has to apply offensive strategies and defensive strategies when found appropriate.

Playing chess and web designing have a lot of similarities.

When it is about web designing, the web designer los angeles needs to consider the final users of the websites (prospective buyers of services or products offered through the website) and the competitors too. The main purpose of the website is to close the deal and make the visitor buy the product or service. This is very similar to chess wherein the objective is to checkmate the King of the opposite side.

Among the various pieces used in this game there are two pieces that are most important and they are the Queen and the King. Some of the features and rules that govern the movement or functioning of these two pieces on the chess board are as follows.

• While the rook, knight and bishop are in pairs the King and the Queen are only single pieces.

• The Queen is placed just beside the King.

• As far as freedom of movement is concerned the Queen has more privileges than the King. The Queen can move as many steps as possible in all directions (horizontal, vertical and diagonal). The only restriction applied to the Queen is that it cannot jump over other pieces. The King can only move one square at a time in all the directions (horizontal, vertical and diagonal).

• If you have lost the Queen it means that you have nearly lost the game especially when the Queen of the opposite side is still there on the board.

The King and Queen can inspire the web designer on multiple aspects especially when creating a user friendly and marketing oriented website. Some of the inspirational aspects are as follows.

The Queen is said to have the maximum freedom of movement among all the pieces on the chessboard. When the website is being used to approach the prospective buyer of the products or services, the website has to approach their mind in all possible ways just like the Queen that can move horizontally, vertically and diagonally. The web designer needs to use all the possible ways to convince the prospective buyer and make the website a revenue generating venture.

As mentioned earlier the King can move only a single step all around it. This implies that usually the web designer has got only a single chance to convince the visitor and convert him to a buyer. If the website fails to achieve the objective on the first view and does not look appealing, usually the visitors do not return to the website and that is where the website looses the game. It is checkmate, the game is lost and the website losses the buyer.
